The Nationals is one of the largest fight Certification Training Event produced by FDC.  It occurs annually and offers certification at all levels at one time.  It is offered in a major city within Canada and is taught by FDC Fight Masters and leaders in the academic and professional fight industry from around the world.

Basic Actor/Combatant $1950.00 (Early Bird $1750/ USask Student: $1462.50)(add 14 night accommodation: +$1150)

For students with no or little prior stage combat or performance experience. Students will explore the safe and effective performance of stage combat techniques in the following disciplines: Unarmed, Single Sword, Quarterstaff.

 

Intermediate Actor/Combatant $2450.00 (Early Bird $2150/ USask Student: $1837.50) (add 21 night accommodation: +$1725)

For students who already hold a Basic A/C certification (or equivalent). Students will refine techniques, perform complex actions with greater intent and speed, and learn more stylistically challenging disciplines: Unarmed Martial Arts, Smallsword, Two-handed Sword, Sword and Companion.

Advanced Actor/Combatant $2600.00 (Early Bird: $2300 / USask Student: $1950) (add 21 night accommodation: +$1725)

For students who already hold an Intermediate A/C certification (or equivalent). As the final Actor/Combatant level, Advanced is the pinnacle of performer training with AFDC. Students will be expected to perform with a high degree of technical skill as well as dramatic intent and stage awareness. Students may also begin building their own choreography under the guidance of Fight Instructors and Masters. Found Weapons, Advanced Point Work, Weapon and Shield, Complex Weapons, Advanced Martial Concepts

Teacher Certification $3250.00 (Early Bird: $2800)(add 21 night accommodation: +$1725)

For apprentices who have completed their Journey and all other apprenticeship requirements, this three week final course and assessment is the final step to becoming an instructor. Candidates demonstrate their andragogical approaches through classes at each certification level, as well as running workshop style classes. Fight Masters and Instructors will work with candidates on a series of tasks, and will give workshops ranging from consent in the classroom, to directing/actor approaches, to unique andragogical perspectives. Contact the Director of Training for more details on course requirements, and expectations.

 


Accommodations

We have the opportunity this year to provide accommodations on campus to our students and staff at the College Quarter Residence (CQ). It is located in the Varsity View community and consists of fully furnished four-bedroom apartments. Four-bedroom suites have four separate bedrooms, two washrooms, one lounge area, and one kitchenette per unit. Bedroom sizes within each apartment vary. Furnishings include dining table/island and chairs, fridge, stove, living room furniture, desks, chairs, beds, and built-in closets.

Those seeking accommodations must have their deposits for their course, and a minimum half payment for the accommodations by March 20th to reserve a spot. Bulk reservations may qualify us for a discount which will be applied to all accommodation seekers once granted. All accommodation fees listed are maximum fees at this time.

For those who registered and paid their deposit before the deadline:

  • Basic accommodations are for check in on August 3th and checkout on August 17th. Total cost $1150 (50% deposit and balance payment $575 ea.)
  • Intermediate, Advanced and Teacher accommodations are for check in on July 27th, and checkout on August 17th. Total cost $1725 (50% deposit and balance payment $862.50 ea.)
