CALL FOR COURSE SUBMISSIONS
FROM SENIOR STAGE AND FILM COMBAT SPECIALISTS
FOR THE 2016 WORLD TEACHER CONFERENCE
August 3 to 15, 2016
Part of the 2016 World Stage Combat Training Conference
Hosted by the Academy of Fight Directors Canada
at York University, Toronto, Canada
The Worlds Academic Committee invites all Senior/Master Instructors of dramatic combat and related disciplines to submit course and workshop proposals for the 2016 World Teacher Conference (WTC), which will run in August 2016 as part of the World Stage Combat Training Conference. (For more information on the WSCTC, please visit https://fdc.ca/training-events/the-worlds/worlds-2016/.)
Hosted by AFDC (the Academy of Fight Directors Canada), the World Teacher Conference will be a 12-day program offering explorations of new works and teaching methodologies, master classes designed for certified teachers, and an international exchange of ideas and practices specific to stage combat instruction and examination. WTC participants will be highly specialized fighters and certified teachers from around the world who have gathered to network, learn new pedagogical techniques, and explore the future of certification training and its relationship to the entertainment industry. They will discuss what “the business” understands about certification in seminar forums and with panel groups of professionals, and explore ways for teachers to better connect with industry on behalf of their students. The WTC will welcome leaders in stage and film combat training both affiliated and unaffiliated with national training associations.
The objective of the World Teacher Conference is to facilitate the next generation of stage combat instruction professionals in learning from one another, fighting together at the highest possible proficiency level, sharing work and research relating to actor-combatant pedagogy and assessment, examining the progression of certification systems worldwide, and becoming the leaders of future certification ideologies and methodologies through international exchange.
