2025 Board Nominations

There are four positions on the Board of Directors opening this year- our Secretary Brianna Johnston, our Treasurer John Knight, and our FM Rep Laryssa Yanchak are completing their terms, and the position of Executive Advisor currently held by Jackie Hanlin is being phased out and replaced with a new FD Rep position. Please join me in thanking Brianna, John,  Laryssa, and Jackie for their dedication and many hours of labour in helping to keep FDC running.

And so nominations are now open for the next Secretary, Treasurer, FM Rep, and FD Rep of Fight Directors Canada.

All positions are elected for a 4-year term. The FM Rep and FD Rep would start soon, with a specific date negotiated with the current Board. The Secretary position would start in July/August, prior to the AGM.

To be nominated for Secretary, the nominee must be a member in good standing and must maintain a certification of Basic Actor Combatant or above. This person should have confidence with administrative tasks and a strong understanding of the organization's training processes.

To be nominated for Treasurer, the nominee must be a member in good standing and maintain an Associate membership or above.

Fight Director and Fight Master Representatives must be members in good standing, and maintain certification at the level they represent.
FDC acknowledges that there is and has been a lack of diverse viewpoints on the Board, and we encourage members to consider principles of inclusion when considering nominations.

The FDC member nominating the candidate will offer a letter of support explaining why their nominee should be considered for the position. The nominee will submit a letter of intent which must include their platform for the position that covers their goals and ideas for their term.

Please email all materials for nominations to either Christopher Mott at membershipadmin@fdc.ca or Brianna Johnston at secretary@fdc.ca. Please have all nomination materials in by March 18th, 2025.

Voting will be online and anonymous (visible only by the Director of Administration, who manages the website and therefore the online vote). Links to the vote will be sent to all members on or about March 19th, and voting will conclude Friday, April 4th.

The Board is voted in for a 4 year term by membership and/or by appointment when positions become vacant and directs the Executive Council on long-term organizational goals and strategies. This organization uses a Policy Board Model, where the members are intended to support the executive in their operating of the organization. Members of the Board have equal voting power and majority vote rules.
