Paul Gelineau ( Fight Master with Fight Directors Canada and Fight Director Ex-Officio with Society of American Fight Directors)

Maestro Gelineau began his stage combat training in the US and Britain as FDC did not exist then, and has trained with the worlds most influential mentors of this art form. Once FDC came into existence he moved up the ranks with them over the next decade. He has taught stage combat through FDC at all of the major theatre schools in Canada as well as many abroad. He has choreograhed violence for production companies from coast to coast including The National Arts Centre, CanStage, The Globe Theatre, the Citadel Theatre, The Banff Centre, etc. He was granted his status of Fight Master by the College of Fight Masters with FDC in 2004 after 17 years of fighting and teaching. Paul is the first Canadian Fight Director to win a choreographers award (Elizabeth Stirling Award) for his work on a production of R and J.

His academic research `Violence Against Women in the Theatre` was published both here in Canada and the US in several publications.

As well as a successful career in fight choreography , Paul is also a respected director who has been nominated for several awards. He as an extensive free lance career and is the founder and first Artistic Director of Theatre Kingston. Most recently he served as the Artistic Director of Keyano Theatre where he co-managed a staff of 12 and a budget of 1.5M.
Maestro Gelineau holds a BAH from Queens University in Drama and French, and an MFA in Directing from the prestigious University of Alberta Drama program.
