Basic Level Single Sword term

Definition

The offensive action following a successful parry.

Translation

retort, reprisal, counter-attack
also the verb "riposter": to answer back, to retaliate, to counter-attack

Intermediate

It may be immediate, or slightly delayed, or delivered in any line. Any type of blade action may be used, simple or compound; the riposte may be executed from the on-guard position, or with a step, balestra, lunge or fleché.
