Definition

(Fr.) (Parry 1) The position and parry protecting the low inside line with the hand in pronation.

Explanation

Italian: Prima

(Intermediate) So called because it was supposed to be that which was instinctively assumed when the sword was drawn from its sheath to meet a surprise attack.
