Definition
(Japanese) “Military Art(s)”. a collective term for al of the Japanese Jutsu (arts) extant before the mid-18th century and practiced almost exclusively by the Samurai Warrior. These combatives whose main use was to overcome a foe in combat, were the forerunners of the modern “do”(way) system. Thus, Judo evolved from Jujutsu, Kendo from Kenjutsu, Karate-do from Karate-Jutsu and so on.
